nothing in particular is expected to happen. there is no "emnity"
between Cat and Rat. it is a fact of nature that sometimes a cat will
eat a rat, but that is part of the way of things, and Rat does not
begrudge Cat for that. most totems coexist peacefully with one
another, the exception being most Insect totems.

in general, shamans of differing totems will work with or against one
another based not on their totemic affiliations, but rather based on
their individual goals and outlooks. shamans are not servants or
vassals of their totem; each shaman has a uniquely individual
relationship with his totem.

Byungwoo> The same thing with an owl shaman? And what would happen
Byungwoo> will two cat woman shamans have a cat fight?

only if there is some mundane reason for it. now, if two cat shamans
were to be aggreived toward one another for some reason, they might
very well have a cat fight. it wouldn't matter if they were female.

Byungwoo> Oh, and what will the totem do when they are summoned in
Byungwoo> the presence of other "hated" totems?

totems are not (and cannot be) summoned. it is very rare for a totem
to make its presence known directly to anyone other than to one it has
chosen as its shaman. at best, a shaman may _request_ its totem's
intercession, but that too would be quite rare.

have you read the Secrets of Power trilogy? pay especial attention to
how Sam Verner comes to know Dog.

all of this is, of course, my (humble|holy) opinion. take or leave it
as you will.

When Elvis Presley died in 1977, there were 37 Elvis impersonators in the
world. Today there are 48,000. If the current trend continues, by the year
2010, one of every three people in the world will be an Elvis impersonator.
