I've never studied history, but Martin's comment was something close to "My
former history teacher should see that!" which leads me to think that the
people "in the business" don't see themselves as sociologists at all. But
maybe that sort of thing is the case with every (semi-)specialized group
anyway :)
Mind you I have a hard time picturing what a sociologist actually is or does...
