One of the players in my game came up with an interesting character twist.

First he has bone lacing because he is the son of an elf and a human and his
bones are brittle. He also has a mild alergy to silver because of the
parents. He concentrated in boxing with a specialization in hand strikes.

This is where it gets interesting. He is called Viper and he is a good well
rounded shadow runner that can be used as a solo character.
As a child he had a great fear of snakes because he was trapped in a well
full of snakes.

The snake totem came to him and asked him if he wanted to become
a snake shaman but because of his fear of snakes he rejected the snake totem.
The snake totem in return covered Vipers body with magical tatoos of snakes.
When the character is resting the tattoos look dull and lifeless but as the
level of activity increases the snake tatoos become more life like and
eventually look real when the character is in full activity such as combat.
When this happened the character went comatose for a couple of months and
was driven insane for a while. Eventually he recovered. He is no longer
afraid on snakes bacause he channels his fear.

Snake shamans do not like this character. In fact they will often
attack this character without warning but because of the magical tatoos that the
snake shaman has placed on Viper's body he is resistant to spells cast by
snake shamans. This is been an interesting point in role-playing,

I was wondering if anyone else has ever come up with ideas for
rejecting a totem. The character has a magic attribute of 1 because he is
full of cyberwear and cannot cast any spells. Very similar to a burnt out
mage but the character has never had spells.

Just an idea,

dustin
