Yes, it proved it existence to a shaman, which is the point the original
post tried to make. The fact that he didnt belief in the first place says that
not all believe in the totems. I think a (very) rough approximation would be
to compare the totems to gods, all the followers belief they exist, but not all
those who dont follow them do.
