obviously we have different conceptualizations of "god"; i permit the
idea of gods who are less than omnibenevolent. Loki, of the Norse
mythos, is a god, even though he is clearly not a benevolent one (in
fact, Loki is a lot like Coyote).
Coyote, regardless of the exact nature of his positive and negative
characteristics, is a major "god"-being in many native american
traditions.

I could tell by his slurred speech, the heavy glaze over his eyes,
and his inability to stand straight that he was under the influence
of a powerful narcotic. That, or he was a graduate student.
