IMHO, if a planet had life it would have an aura, and thus, you could use
magic. I can see how differences in the aura would affect magic, but I tend
to believe it would disable the mage, who uses magic my manipulating the
existing aura. If the aura were too drastically different, he would be
unable to manipulate it without re-learning his Sorcery/Magical
Theory/Conjuring Skills.

IMHO, either the mage would have enough magic to work with or he wouldn't,
ie. the mana cycle would have little effect on him spell casting unless
there weren't enough mana.

I don't play Earthdawn, but the from what I've heard, the horrors sound
kinda like a combination of the Enemy, Insect Spirits, and Toxic Spirits.
