The Deathstar might... a large orbital station wouldn't have anywhere near
enough people.

Think about the sheer mass of LIFE, not just (meta)humanity on this globe
of ours. All of that is required to create the biosphere that provides the
mana for magic.

(Naturally, of course, even if the Death Star had enough people aboard to
create a manasphere, the background count would be too high to work any
magic, anyway)
