when speaking about magic, _never_ say never. something is only
impossible because we make it impossible.
read Raymond Feist's Riftwar series for more on this, especially the
sequel series, which has a semi-minor character who insists that
"there is no magic," despite the ability to perform what most people
would call magic.

I could tell by his slurred speech, the heavy glaze over his eyes,
and his inability to stand straight that he was under the influence
of a powerful narcotic. That, or he was a graduate student.
