Okay, you know exactly where your gun is pointed. But what you
*don't* know is where the rest of the world is :) If you can't see
your target (like, you don't look around) you can only fire blind, and
smartgun links don't reduce the penalty for that. And you have an excellent
chance of perforating items that you will wish you hadn't shot at - children,
cars, pressurised gas tanks, electrical transformers, an Army nuclear
missile that just happened to be passing on its transporter... <warped
chuckles>.
I do have a character with a fingertip compartment (thumb, actually) holding a
small camera, with low-light and flare compensation: so he can put just one
digit around a corner to look for a sniper, or whatever. Very sneaky, I
thought. Trying to use it to target a weapon is a +4 by our rules, though.
And you could put a camera on the gun, too, but that would be a custom
modification. AFAIK I don't think smartgun links do that now.
Could you cite the example? Just curious in case I'm missing something.
