One patently obvious run for one to three PCs is bodyguarding. Mr/Ms
Fixer's feeling a bit paranoid of late and wants a couple of bodies
around to make him/her feel safer. Public transportation mayhem is
a fun way to go on this one. If combat isn't desirable, how about
tracking down/doing surveillance on the entities that cause the paranoia.
Another possibility (though not my original idea (thanx Trevor! :|))
is helping with mob enforcement. Let's say a mafia contact is planning
to have a "discussion" with the manager of a house of ill repute/other
classy establishment (The house recently stopped payment on the
protection money, and picked up a contract with a local gang). In
addition to the beefy guys with baseball bats, the don wants some guns
along to watch the front door in case the gangers show up. Admittedly
its a no-brainer legwork-wise, but can be okay for tactics (ALWAYS put
someone on the roof with a long barrelled rifle...).
Finally, you could look at the character histories- what if mom showed
up in town? What if a former best friend dies and needs someone to
eulogize? What if your girlfriend won a trip to Hawaii- can you scrape
the proper ID together in time?
