Has anyone ever tried upscaling the use of miniatures so that you could
use the smaller types of "action figures" (the Star Wars ones were pretty
small as I recall) instead of 25mm? I bet those things would take
modification and enamel paint pretty well, and be more durable than lead
or pewter, and be somewhat poseable.
(Of course, playing with action figures might cause regression and
you'd all have to go outside and play with them in the dirt of the backyard,
but then again that might be kind of fun too.)
