I know what you mean.

Player1: I don't know, what do we do now?
Player2: [to GM] What was that thing about a... whoever that one guy was?
You know, the one with the brief case.
Gm: oh jeez [buries head in arms]

Well the good news it is okay if they fail. Actually it might be preferable.
That way all the events in Chicago as described in BC happens as normal.
It's okay if they fail ASSUMING they didn't end up in the blast :)

Hey, did you ever have a simple plot in mind and one of the players blows
it all out of preportion. All of the suddent it's a HUGE conspiracy.
They have no clues or evidence what-so-ever to back it up, but insist
on taking outragious precautions anyway. Paranoia is great, isn't it? :->
