@ Hmmmm, finally a skill that characters will brag about whos got the LOWER
@ skill number. Reminds me of Boot Hill. At first you get ticked off when
@ you walk into a bar, and you can tell people are saying 'Who the HELL is
@ that?'. Later on, when your rep is higher, you get people saying
@ "Quickdraw huh?, I hear you are the fastest draw in these here parts.
@ Prove it." A double edged sword at best. I have always used karma as a
@ detirmination for street reps. As for in-between stuff, I allow players
@ to train, do little runs (like some of the ones in the Sprawl sourcebook),
@ or other things like establish bars, clubs, magical groups, research
@ spells, write new programs, etc.

Our character deliberatly don't push our rep. If you're good,
you've heard of us, if not, well we don't want the very Tom, Dick and
Harry knowing us. As far as we are concerned annoninity (sp) is the
best policy. Any way we where forced to abandon our previous street
rep (plastic surgeon here we come) and take up new identities. That
was the fun part, we even managed to arrange the deaths of ourselves.
One character died of wounds sustained while sitting on an exploding
bike, the other died in the sewers beneath Seattle (The mafia where
after him), Warlock was seen killing Cyclone (Warlock himself) etc.
etc. After a few weeks the word started to circulate that a new group
had established itself in Seattle.
