Exactly. Shadowrun is a skills based system, which allows and
almost infinite variation of character types. Even within broad
"classes" of characters there are subtle yet distinct variations between
characters. For example, I've played a rigger who was a speed-freak,
drove a tricked-out Westwind 2000 and worked as a high-speed courier.
I've also played a rigger who was a surveillance specialist, who used
ridiculous quantities of stealthy drones to scope out the opposition from
afar. Both are technically "riggers" but they are so totally different
that the only remaining similarity is the VCR.
Hence, the point is that the only thing holding you back in
character creation and subsequent game-play is the limits of your own
creativity. Run with it.
