It doesn't sound too callous because it deals with real situations and real
reactions to them. I agree with your post 100% and thank you for presenting it.

As a side note, though, you may wish to limit the number of characters per
line to 70, because a lot of people on the list have mailers that won't line
wrap and your messages will be cut off and unreadable. I could read it
fine, but there've been complaints about this before.
