|The TopCat Manifesto
|or "What I like to rant about and why"
|
|I'm 23 years old, live in Springfield, IL (US, of course)
Say "hi" to Homer for me ;)
|Roleplaying is the responsibility of the player.
Roleplaying is the responsibility of all involved. If you're a player
and you are roleplaying your heart out and the GM roles dice, then it's
all moot.
|Some players force
|stereotypes on themselves. The "I shall not kill" players are just as
|guilty of settling into a stereotype as the "kill everything" players are.
|Is either a better roleplayer for it? Nope. They just grabbed a tired old
|convention of the genre and decided to beat the dead horse again in the name
|of roleplaying.
Ahh, but this can be roleplayed. Anything can be roleplayed. Maybe you
or I can't see a stereotype as being a good roleplaying vehicle, but
I'm sure that someone could, and do it well. Just because you can't, or
don't want to play a stereotype, don't discount the possibility that it
can't be done well.
|Minimizing die rolls and maximizing actual interaction will aid roleplay and
|be more fun to all involved. Only use them when needed.
This would be the GM responsibility that I refered to earlier. Just
wanted to let you know that people may feel that you are contradicting
yourself :)
Other than that I am in agreement with you.
