|You sure about that? I recall - don't have the Book here right now - that
|a fashion(4) was a completely different spell from a fashion (5), so when
|you want to upgrade, you have to learn a whole new spell which is why it
|is almigthy easy to keep mages in low force spells if one denys them the
|opportunities of getting upgrade materials. Much easier for PC's to
|gain in skills and abilities .....

Yep. Absolutely true. High force spells are different to the low force
equivalents. However, once you know a spell at, say, force 6, you can
*CHOOSE* to cast it at a lower force.
Think of it as you choosing to put less power into it. The force of the
spell is the Maximum force it can be cast at.
This makes spells versatile. If you're slightly drained, you can opt to cast
at a lower force.

|But this does at the same time indicate, that once you've learned a force
|6 spell, you cannot cast force 1-5, nor 7+, unless you've learned them at
|lower forces from the start or under play. So if your magician started out
|with an Inner Glow force 4, it is not possible casting 1-3's.
|You've never learned them.

Nope. It's like a battery. You can only get out what it's capable of putting
out, but with a bit of tinkering, you can choose to get a lower voltage from
it (with resistors in this case....)

|I read this about 4 months ago - it can a real hell being a GM and not
|having the books. I've not the inclination to buy, only to loan and read.
|But then it has worked quite good so far :) - so please correct me if
|Mr. Halliwell is right and I've Alzheimer (sp?). Shouldn't wonder....

Nahhh! You're not senile. Everyone remembers things differently.
(And forgets things differently come to that...)
