I always thought that that was because it's hard to sheath them or anything.

I think because the weight is fairly inconsequential anyway, they weigh
that little.

I wouldn't say that. The only reason that shuriken are seen as so deadly
is because they are normally only weilded by people that are highly
skilled with them.

Dikote them. Mayhaps a physad with the new throwing power in Awakenings
(sorry, I can't remember the name of the power) could us a dikoted
throwing star. eg. A phsad with strength 6, when throwing the
aforementioned shuriken with dikote and special power, would be doing 8M
damage against IMPACT armour, which is almost always lower.
