No, and no.
Throwing knives, the kind that more than fancy bo (dart) shuriken, have no
handles to speak of. In general, they are slabs of steel about 20cm long,
3-4cm wide, 0.5cm thick. They are rather hefty, being about twice as thick
as a hunting knife of the same length. The points are double edged, with a
vaguely teardrop shape, giving the knife a slightly pinched waist. Single
tipped knives have a "flat" butt and tend to be more common, as you are
that much less likely to stick yourself :).
Throwing knives do spin in flight. It is up to the thrower to put the
correct "snap" into his wrist when throwing to ensure a point-first impact.
But regardless, because they are rather hefty (as previously mentioned)
they will still hurt when they hit.
