Um, where in Awakenings is this? I've just checked through the books [SR2,
Grimmy, Awakenings] and I can't find anything prohibiting summoning while in
astral. The closest thing I could find was on p 140 in the main book about
summoning elementals. [the initial conjuring takes place on the physical
plane, but once the elemental is bound, it can be called to serve by
spending a Complex Action].
After all, if you can attempt to banish a spirit while you are astral, why
not be able to summon a spirit in the astral plane?
