I don't like this rule. The main reason being that it conflicts what I view
spirits as. In my mind, spirits are living entities with a will of their
own. The only reason they listen to the mage is because of the magical hold
he has over them.
They exist on their plane and are brought over by magic. The more powerful
elementals/spirits can come over by themselves - free spirits. This is not
an all encompassing rule.
Basically, I see spirits as entities with their own personalities and thus
it leads to better RPing, respect by the summoner for the power he's
wielding and a more realistic approach to spirits.
