Check out the first FASA novel with Dirty Dirk. (2XS?) Anywho, there's a
fire elemental in there that has a personality.
Seeks the Moon is an allied el. with a def. personality. The other els. in
Burning Bright all developed a personality from their association with one mage.
The fire el. Stephen Kenson wrote up in the "Two Solitudes" adventure in
Shadows of the Underworld had a personality.
Some of these refs. may be of free spirits, but how could a spirit go free
in the first place without a personality, and seperate will from its creator?
IMHO, the reason some els. have a personality and some don't has more to do
with the summoner than anything else. If the mage treats the els. like
nothing but automata, how could they become anything but that?
