Subject: Re: The Physical/Astral Affecting Debate

I changed the topic of this one from Re: Re[4]: FAT-Bac -Reply -Reply in
order to find the responses for this particular discussion.

<sniip>.

%Okay, what the astral mage is doing is influencing the FAB-Net's aura. He's
%not influencing the FAB-Net's physical component. The astral mage doesn't
%hold up the net, he holds up the net's aura. By being under the net, he
%prevents the net's aura from falling through him to the floor. Because the
%net's aura is prevented from falling, the net's physical part doesn't fall
%because the aura and the physicalness of the net can't be separated. The
%astral mage has directly influenced the net's aura, which in turn has an
%indirect influence on the net's physicalness.

Doesn't this imply that said mage should be able to lift the net's aura
thereby lifting the net??? and while you are at it, why not strangle
someone's aura and see their neck break [for real]? Or are we selectively
ignoring something, hhmm?

%Instead of trying to define what 'directly influencing the physical plane'
%means, try defining 'direct influence' and 'indirect influence'. A direct
%influence would be an action that has an immediate result. An indirect
%influence would be an action that produces a second result that is produced
%by the immediate result.

%>So a living net can wrap itself around an astral being but
%>the same being cannot affect the net? IMHO, there's a
%>major contradiction here.

%Given:

%[1] All living beings have an aura in astral space that is corporeal. [SR2,
%p145]

%[2] It is not possible to pass through things that are alive [that have an
%aura] in astral space. [SR2, p145]

%[3] A non-magical living being cannot separate its aura from the same
%location that the physical mass occupies. [SR2, p145, 146]

%[4] Fat Airborne Bacteria is a living thing. [CorpSec, p103]

%Then:

%By [1] and [4], FAB has an aura. By [2], the aura from a net with FAB and
%an astral mage cannot occupy the same place. If the FAB net was dropped
%on a motionless astral mage, the net's aura drapes across the astral mage.
% By [3], the physical net drapes over what appears to be nothing.

Using same rules, said mage can grab the net and fling it away. now said
inventive mage can wrap it at home around a grenade and bring it "floating"
to the site and then drop it....etc etc... see why I hate fat-bac's?

<snip thomas'law>
%[Corollary One to Thomas's Law of Aura Interaction] A living physical
%object's aura can act on an astral object. Gravity pulls the physical
%object down [physical priority], then the physical object's aura moves
%downwards as well. The FAB net's aura pulls the mage's aura down to the
%Earth. Because the three auras (Earth, Mage, FAB) all meet, the net stops.

%[Corollary Two] An astral object cannot affect an aura of a physical
%non-magical living object. Gravity and other physical forces [air
%pressure, stuff like that] that aren't present in the astral plane are
%present in the physical plane and are affecting the physical non-magical
%living object. While attempting to counter the FAB's aura, the mage is also
%trying to counter forces that aren't present in astral and cannot affect
%these forces.

ok so noone can ever go astral, as bacteria and microorganisms make the air
impossible to pass through??? [yes I know the rules say otherwise, but this
theory doesn't!]
