Just to throw in some more interesting contradictions I
would like to point out the problem FAB presents as it
was presented.
1) What is so different between "large" bacteria
which is I believe what FAB is and say Algee?
2) I've always had problems with the way FASA
handled water travel by mages. As far as I can
understand they only modify perception when moving
through water. I'm no Oceanographer but I always
understood that there is much more life in the ocean
than in the air we breath. Most of it happens to reside
in the top 200 meters or so of the ocean but there is
still a good quantity scattered between that and the
bottom.
3) I have a hard time understanding why movement
isn't also restricted because the microbes are actually
in higher density in the water than in the air. As a
house rule I've instituted I don't allow Mages to use
warp speed underwater and their normal movement is
also limited by depth in the water.
This I then take and relate to the current FAB
situation. My understanding of FAB (very limited) is
that it is suspended in some sort of solution and then
used by pumping it into tubes around a room that
surround the mage in astral space and act as living
walls. Now I also gather that it's pumped in under
pressure such that the Bacteria can't move around at
all thus presenting a solid barrier.
The problem I see with a net type barrier is that in
order to prevent the Bacteria from moving you need to
do 1 of two things. Pack so many in there that there
isn't enough room for them to move whcih poses the
problem of them dying off very quickly. Or you put the
whol thing in under pressure which means one of two
things. Either the net you have has just become a
solid grid because the pressure holds it ridged or the
material is so tough that it can't easily be bent or
molded to catch anything anyway.
If I'm misunderstanding the way FAB is used or
maintained then please correct me.
Now suppose you have a net that has FAB inside it
but is still pliable enough to use as a net. This means
that the FAB isn't packed in so tight that it can't move.
>From HS biology most things tend to move around in
seemingly random patterns on the microscopic level.
Mr. Mage just has to start feeling around with his aura
to find gaps where the FAB isn't packed in so tight. By
exerting pressure with his Aura he can continue to
widen the hole by putting more of his aura into the
space.
BEFORE YOU JUMP TO CONCLUSIONS AND SAY
THAT AN ASTRAL MAGE CAN NOT DIRECTLY EFFECT
PHYSICAL THINGS PLEASE READ THE EXPLINATION
THAT FOLLOWS. :)
The Mage is not press against the auras of the FAB
and moving it. The FAB is randomly moving and the
mage's aura is just filling in after the FAB has left the
area. So say mr Mage has managed to put a finger in
to the net, by applying pressure with his other fingers
eventually the FAB will move out of the way enough
for more of his fingers to go in. This slows the mage
down a lot. It doesn't contain him totally but it makes
him go really slow.... hopefully enough time to get a
mage/PA to the area.

Something else that occured to me just now. What
happens to a mage that is standing in a doorway and
someone walks through the door way? Assuming it's
a mundane and not magically active in any way?
