Well, I just want to make it clear that I live and work in Canada (donning
secure jacket and ducking behind desk).

Whoa! Putting aside in-character and out-of-character knowledge for a sec,
the results of the election are available to anybody with net access
(http://www.fasa.com/Shadowrun/Campaign/DeadDunkelzahn.html), or who
has seen the back of DS, or has seen a recent FASA catalog, or...

Now I get to bring up that in-character thing. I sincerely hope that your
players are capable of realizing that their characters don't know about the
"assassination" of Dunkelzahn. If not, why don't you just leave that bit
out? Kill him sooner? Kill him later? Make him lose the election? There
are still plenty of ways to surprise characters (and players).

Well, I doubt that your players walked up to some random guy and said,
"Our GM is running us through the 2058 election campaign - would you
mind doing your best to totally ruin it for him?"

Just wanted to point out that you were being a little harsh...

James
