I read that a new one is supposed to be coming out sometime in the future
(knowing FASA, a LONG time in the future :) but it wasn't clear if this
was going to be another "in the cockpit" sim like MechWarrior 2, or a
strategy game, like regular BT but on a computer.

If this were made, I'd probably go see it, provided the local cinema were
to show it (I doubt it, though...) As for the story, with the zillions of
BT novels out there, it shouldn't be too hard to find a good story to turn
into a film script.
