I was wondering how other groups do Stealth tests.
There are 2 methods I use and I haven't chosen one in
particular, yet.
1) Opposed Test: Character rolls stealth vs TN 4(+ adj)
and NPC rolls perception against TN 4 (+adj).
2) Non-opposed test: PC rolls stealth vs TN 4 (+mods).
Every success raises the NPC's detection TN (4) by
+1.
Any comments? Pro's and Cons etc . . .

I use method number 2 since that is how most of
the other effects of things like Invisability and Spirit
concealment add to things. It also makes Stealth a
worthwhile skill to buy even after character creation
because if you use method number 1 you'll need
about skill 4 to beat average intelligence people.
It also keeps with the Perception table in the main
book regarding success tests on perception. 1
Success = noticing something is up, 2-3 general
information, 4 + more specific info.
I also use the house rule that if you exceed the TN
by 6 or more it counts as extra success if the original
TN was higher than a 6. So if you roll an 18 on 1 die
an the TN was a 8 then you have 1 extra success. If
the original TN was a 6 then you only have 1 success
regardless of how high you roll.
