It depends on teh GM how spells look in teh astral.
In the past I've described teh same spell
differently. A detect enemies has once appeared as a sphere of magic
energy which probed anyone who entered it (easy to determine teh range of
teh spell and avoid when necessary), another time a detect enemies spell
showed as tendrils of energy which snaked out toward anyone who entered
the area of effect and touched their forehead discovering their
intentions.
On the latter point teh spell would trace back to teh spell lock if
attached, but I believe the spell lock would then in turn lead back to the
person who bonded it i.e. teh magician.
