Agreed... Although I might allow one or two points, if they were within
reason and added to the characters background.

Exactly...:)

It depends greatly on the character, though... For me, I have an Ork Decker
who always needs cash, especially as my GM <Glares at Steve Tinner> likes to
blow up, steal, or generally take away *everything* that I own on a monthly
basis... But I have more karma than I know what to do with it all...

However, I have a Mage character named Chaos who never seems to have enough
Karma to get anything done, but currently has a good deal of money floatng
around...:)

Pg. 78 of the SR Comp., Bottom of the first column to top of the second
column... Under Cash for Karma...:) There is no exact numbers for buying
Karma, as it says that every GM should determine the price to fit his
campiagn. Also, it basically uses the example that I gave above...:) And
my number (10K Nuyen) was just a round figure that I *might* consider using,
should it come to that...

It's not actually every time a person casts a spell. It actually happens
under more instances than I said the first time around (I had only skimmed
that section)... It happens under these sections...

1) Whenever his magic roll comes up all 1's.
2) High Background Count
3) During Mana Storms in Astral Space
4) And possibly when casting newly learned or (especially) newly created
spells...:)

Ok, did I miss any?

Oh, and depending on how random you like things, you could "always" have a
mana storm hanging around the astral...:)

Right... I was under the impression that it only happened when you botched
a spell cast with all ones... Ok, I see how it can have a bigger impact
now... My mistake (Teach me to comment on something before I completely
read it...:))
