I think it's because the range (i.e. the range where you canhit exactly) not
only depends on the energy or momentum of the projectile but on the inner
form of the barrel itslef. And the fine curves (sorry, don't know the exact
word) inside a barrel which makes the projetile rotate and fly stable would
just burn away in fully autimtic mode, so they have to be more rough.
Nevertheless I consider the ranges for a sniper much too low, too, so we do
it that way:
Any "exact" weapon (i.e. snipers, hunting rifles, match pistols and so on)
just get the maximum range doubled, the Target Numbers raising by 2/4 more.
