It's a hoax Bull, it's not possible to send viruses by e-mail except as
an enclosure, and that doesn't by itself activate anything.

Next time you see something like this, pop over to

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/AntiVirusDefs/
or
http://www.symantec.com/

and have a browse around on their anti virus pages, it tells you all
about what is and what isn't a virus, and offers you nice free
evaluation virus checkers, when you buy one, the nice people at symantec
let you have free updates (well, discounting phone cost). There are a
couple of other virus checkers that do the same thing, but I don't know
their URL's. The most powerful one I've found to date is Thunderbyte,
but I use Norton's AV as it ties in with their tools package quite
nicely. For you, Thunderbyte is probably going to be best, as it's
small and Dos/Windows based (AFAIK - only Dos/Windows) It has the added
attraction of being shareware, so you get to play with it, and if you
like it, the registration is minimal. It's available at,

http://www.windows95.com (as a 16 bit ap I believe) and I think
http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/

and probably a couple of dozen other places. Have a blast, but
remember, where viruses are concerned, check first, or one's decker is
not only risking his hardware/data, but also his credibility :)
