I'm not sure... Since a focus is linked to the person who bonded it, I
have this feeling (not having looked through any rules or source
material) that a spell cast at the focus would ground out through the
magician, not whoever may be carrying the focus when it's activated. Most
magicians only use spell locks themselves, so this point doesn't come into
play a lot in most games, I imagine.
Feel free to prove me wrong, though :)
