Yes, he can create an image of his astral self visible on the physical
plane. However, he is very limited. he can speak, but thats about all. He
himself stays in astral space, meaning he still sees only through astral
senses, and hear using the astral equivalent of hearing, meaning he hears
the meaning of the phrase, not the words themselves.

I seem to remember reading the official ruling on this in the main
book, but thay may date back to 1st ed.
