IMHO this theory is wrong. You need to throw a physical spell at the foci.
This grounding through the foci and into the target. This because it is
bonded to the person. Now if you where an Initiate of Grade 2 you could
mask the Spell Lock and a Force 1 Spell on it. This making the magician
faster. And not leaving himself open to attack. Unless of course someone
brakes his/her's masking.

Like I said again it need only be physical.
