As someone who IS a fantasy LARPer, I'd recommend dispensing with
dice/paper-scissors-stones rubbish all together.

In every LARP I've played in, players have hit points.
Armour either absorbs the first blow in a combat or reduces the damage that
gets through.

This gets out of the trap of calling time-out every five seconds to throw a
dice. Use NERP guns (or water pistols).
Throwing dice totally detracts from the point of LRPing in the first place.

Ideas for shadowrun.....

People gain, say BODY rank in hit points. (or have a condition monitor that
the referees tend to, ignoring the hit points and following the rest of
this.....)
They also gain BODY rank in armour (to simulate the idea that you can
totally resist damage in shadowrun...).
Armour also adds to the armour, and armour either (1stEd) grants
auto-successes versus damage (say, 2 points of armour absorbs one hit
point), or you can have power levels to weapons that you shout out when you
shoot, if the power doesn't get through the armour, it doesn't do damage...

L could equal 1 hit.
M " " 2 hits.
Etc.

So.... If the referee does all the book keeping (After every encounter, call
time out and note down everyones hits), the players can spend all thier time
PLAYING the characters without worrying about game mechanics.

Needs some work, but that's the best way from where I'm sitting.
