AH! Important bit! We cannot discuss Force or F/2 *ALONE*. I forgot a
slight detail in my previous post, which was that in my campaigns I
usually .. discourage.. exclusive spells or fetishes... and esp. both
at the same time. Using those will leave the drain of all but the
most powerful spells easily manageable, especially in conjunction
with F/2 drain. (A force 9 mana bolt at 2S, for instance; fireball
at force 5 at 3D.).
On the other hand they're 'cool' - allows for variety, which is good.
A 'potion' fetish for healing spells, for instance, I think is a good
idea. The problem is all the mages I know of using it use it as a
minmax tool. ('Potions, heck no, the fetish is this little bit of
seed. Oh, and I carry 600, I do not want to run dry'.). The
exclusive penalty isn't enough of a penalty, simply because casting
spells while sustanining gives a +2 to tn's... enough of a penalty
that casting combat spells then is rapidly approaching pointless
anyway.
