Why would you default to Electronics from Intelligence (4 dots) if
Computer is only one dot away? :)

[add attribute to skill but remove 1 die per dot passed]

Like so many things in SR, it would work well for average humans and most
average metahumans, but once you add in cyberware or attribute modifiers
like an elf's +2 Charisma or a troll's +4 Strength, it breaks down. Even
at two dice per dot the elf would still get 10 Firearms dice :(

It would also lead to a lot of numbercrunching and munchkinism if you're
not careful. Assuming you do want to use this rule, then players will
compare Strength and Quickness and chose the better of the two when making
Unarmed Combat skill tests, for example. If both are equal, they go for
Quickness; if Strength is higher, they go for Strength. The same would
happen with the other attributes.

And use the Companion's skill web, which altered a few lines to be more
logical and added some more connections.

Although, there's one type of skills that really needs to be moved: the
weapon B/R skills. They should be much closer to Intelligence and further
away from their base skill and from Quickness, I feel. As it is now,
someone with Quickness 5 (and no skill) is just as good a gunsmith as
another person with Intelligence 5 and no skill, but I don't see Quickness
be all that useful in designing and assembling a firearm...

You've definitely gone round the bend now :)
