All you need is an adapter to slot the book-chip into a computer, then you
can copy it onto another (normal) chip, a CD, or whatever. Now use a
disassembler to see how the custom reader does what it does, and you're
ready to write a reader or an emulator for your everyday computer...

Compare it to Nintendo games: you can't run them on a PC because the
cartridges won't fit into the PC anywhere. But put the right type of
connector onto the PC (from an old and/or broken Nintendo, for example),
then write an emulator for the actual computer that's in the Nintendo
system, and you can play the games on your PC.
