I think the big question is how accurate do you want the shot.
With open sites, 22, single shot, bolt rifle, prone, with a sling I can get
a reliable shot off every 30 seconds.
Reliable as in at 50 feet, Everyshot under the same dime. This was back in
high school on the rifle team. You had to shoot 10 tagrets in 10 minutes.
You also had unlimited practice shots during the same 10 minutes. Usually
you would fire about 16 shots and have a minute or a little more left.
As you went from prone, to sitting to kneeling to standing it took longer
per shot. The reload time was the same it just took longer to site in on
the target.
Of the 30 seconds, probably 15 was spent on reloading and getting into &
out of position to reload. 15 seconds on controlling your breathing and the
shot.
I guess that might help with sniper fire.
