The truly sad thing is that I've heard about the chainsaw one...A
guy tried to stop the chainsaw with his hand...then tried to sue. The
company just told him to look in the manual (where this TRULY inane warning
appeared) and laughed him out of court.
I heard the theory that Americans do this the most because people in
other countries would be too ashamed to admit that they actually did
something that stupid. (Note: I am not bashing Americans...I am one. But
you have to admit that it is stupid...)
Side note about stupid things: Consider toad-licking. Someone had
to try it for no reason whatsoever, the TELL other people that they did
it...Scary, isn't it?
