BBB Pg. 145 "Astral Perception"
"Astral perception allows the magician to view the aura of any living or
magical thing, which will reveal to him the true form or nature of the
being. A shapeshifter always shows its animal form in astral space for
example. A character under a disguising spell would also show his or her
true form."
(Also, the Shapechange spell doesn't in any way state that your aura is
altered.)
Thus, you are incorrect. Your aura AUTOMATICALLY reflects your true form.
The ONLY way to alter your aura in ANY way according to the rules is via
Masking - and that only changes your status as mundane/magician/Initiate.
That's it.
