The spirit. The magician decided to give up control, at least until the
spirit ends the possession. :) Stupid magician.

Why would a spirit with such a power not have used it before, that's my
question. Sure he can, if that can be done with (meta)humans (I don't
recall if that's possible or not). If so, sure thing, and it gives the
usual benefits/effects of that power. The Grimoire suggests it is possible
("It is rumored..."), and sayd that the effects of such are unknown. GM
freedom to do as he pleases, there, apparently there's no canon info.
