Perhaps, you'll see...I did make you a promise a day or two ago...

In the situation I described, where the PAD attacked the barrier, yes he
attacked it in order to bring it down. He was of couse using Astral
Perception and a weapon foci (nice sword btw). It however didn't come
down...at least, not at first.

It caused quite a stir because of the situation that the "barrier" (regardless
of defining rules) was a "Magical Edge", that being an ability coming from the
individual directly. It is "part" of the magician's magical attribute in a
slightly more direct fashion (that is, it isn't something "learned", it is
something that "occurs"). I apologize now for that oversimplification.

Anyway, the "barrier" is connected more or less to the individual's "Magic
Attribute". Atlas (the character) didn't know Binder had the "barrier" up
and
going. When he failed to bring it down, the "barrier" retaliated just as if
it were a spell. However, because it was "Force = Binder's Magic Attribute -
1", it hurt on it's way (high grade initiate enchanter) back.

The reason I asked this question was because of the "potential connection" the
magic has to the actual user. It is "part of the user's overall psyche". If
it is going to defend itself, to what end will do so? How much of the user's
resources are placed at the disposal of the "edge's defense"? It is part of
an "instinctual survival response", yes or no? How much of the
"subconscious"
is working in this, if any at all?

Fox-on-the-Net had some good alternatives mentioned, most of which we
considered in the game...the problem we finally argued I won't explain
yet...and from what I understand, Tobias was given the end result...so please
don't spoil my fun on this one.

Believe it or not, this is part of the basis for my argument of "Aura" as
well...remember, all of the magic is still connected at a certain level in SR
as far as "mortal magicians" are concerned.
