Isn't Jett a centaur? On a Yamaha Rapier? Okay, you've got me curious...
How'd she manage that one? ;)

I think we ought to have an antics thread, cuz I feel obliged to recount a
driving incident in our campaign. I suppose it's more bizarre the funny,
but we still laugh about. Just because it's a case of someone being a bit
too concerned about being a dick.

This was the first time I'd ever run SR... or played it for that matter.
There'd been an on-going rivalry between two of the players in our group,
and so when we started one of the rivals (Juany) made his character a
street samurai that was just a cruel parody of the other player (Jeff).
Right down to putting a notably low score for driving, since many people in
the group were critical of Jeff's sense of self-preservation while driving.

So, the first night playing, they runners had just gotten their job (I was
running Mercurial. A good adventure, am I right?), and were off to do
various bits o' legwork and stuff. Juany proclaims that his character,
"Jeff Hinderence", was going to drive very fast and very recklessly. So, I
make him roll. He failed. He crashed. The car, a Eurocar Westwind, was
seriously damaged (but still drivable!). So was Hinderence and his poor
passenger, a PC Sammy with the street name of "Jester".

So they drive to a vidphone, and Hinderence calls up his fixer trying to
find a mage who can heal him up. The fixer refers him to one, and they go
try to get healed.

Two chromed sammies, trying to get magical healing.

Suffice it to say, they got maybe one box healed each. After many tries.
When the mage refused to try any more, Hinderence shot the mage, and
proceeded to loot the place. Even after sirens were heard in the
background. Jester meanwhile was out the backdoor and trying to put some
distance between himself and the house.

So Hinderence goes out the front door (I've yet to figure out why...
roleplaying his character to the bitter end?), and gets in the remains of
his car just as Lone Star pulls up. The cops trained their guns on him and
told him to get out of the car. He raised his hands at first, then made a
go for his gun. I gave the cops a free shot. Hinderence went down. But I
let him live. Just so I could have him sent to prison. The murder of the
mage combined with the fact that Jester had left his Panther Assault Cannon
with integral smartgun link in the back seat was enough to get him sent up
for a while.

He burned the character sheet when he heard I was going to use him as an
NPC.

He later made a physad (as 2nd edition had _just_ come out) and he never
caused trouble afterwards. Outside of insisting on using the term "dim
mok", and yelling "ha-du-ken" and "wu-jen" while we ran combat.
For no
real reason. =)

Jester swore revenge on Hinderence for costing him an assault cannon. =)
