Awakenings p108,
"Totem archetypes are generally animals figures, but other cultural
archetypes will serve just as well. For example, the idols of European
nature magic are humanlike mythological archetypes. Other magical
traditions follow totems of mythical creatures or even places that have
become invested with significant meaning."
That's why I said it couldn't be a "real" totem. Tamagotchi's are
not ingrained into people's beliefs. On the other hand Gator is an Urban
Totem because people accept the urban myth of them alligators in the city
sewers.

Which is defined in Awakenings p.105 under Self-Created Traditions.
I did say it was an option, just not a very good one. And it is still not
considerd a Totem.

If not what? They would just say no to it. They do have to approve it you
know.

Ancient cultures believed that names held great power, personal names
more so and they were guarded very closely. To protect themselves, they
answered to another name, because if another discovered their real name,
it could be used against them.
History repeats itself.
