If I recall Biology 101 correctly, 99.99..% of a seed is just "food" for
the germination process, i.e. until the plant extends roots and gets a
couple of leaves to start photosynthesis. IMO the only "alive" part of the
seed would be the genetic material contained in the seed and that's
microscopic. So even a 50 pound bag of coffee beans wouldn't provide much
astral protection for a smuggler.
