IIRC, it's a Prequel. (Hence 'Young' Zaphod.)

So, has anyone ever incorporated Hitchhiker's Guide stuff into their
SR games?

The most I've ever done was having my PCs equipped with Towels. Not
that they had any special afinity for Towels, mind you. They never
went off naming them or anything. Most of the time, they didn't even
carry them on their person. It's just an item I always seem to add on
the starting equipment list.
