I don't know. I get the feeling the email and voicemail have merged
and that it's being used like voicemail is today. It seems that pocket
secretaries can read email out loud, or convert voicemail to text. And
I wouldn't be suprised if they can filter phone and email messages into
folders. And it seems (based on published adventures) that it
primarily used to leave business messages and personal phone messages.
