Hey, McCormick, unless you want background data that your character doesn't
have, please be so kind as to skip this.

Or not, it's up to you. I don't care.

Most of the whole story:

Runners are assigned to retrieve a briefcase from a motorcade. They are
specifically instructed to not kill any of the party they are sent up
against; the Johnson (well, Schmitt, in this case) used to work with them,
and owed them that much.

They intercept the motorcade, and things go to hell in a handcart. One of
the party they're intercepting is a young, but very powerful, Pegasus
shaman. After things really fall apart, Evadne (the shaman) casts a globe
of darkness (can't remember the exact name of the spell, but you get the
idea)...which promptly envelops most of the street area where the characters
are. CJ's stock street samurai (CJ is a newbie who wanted to get started
*right now*), wary of the highly-cybered soldier type he's relatively sure
he's put down, decides to make sure, and throws a concussion grenade
approximately where he thinks the soldier is. He doesn't take into account
things like scatter.

Another of the bodies lying unconscious on that street is another PC, a
stock troll mercenary. He's taken a serious wound and a serious stun
already, and was lying there trying to shake off the cobwebs so he could
become useful again. CJ throws his grenade...right into the dome of
darkness which he can't see through, in the general direction of the
soldier. Grenade hits. Grenade scatters. Grenade falls in troll
mercenary's lap. Troll doesn't get a chance, in the scheme of initiative,
to do anything about the grenade that has fallen in his lap (it was CJ's
second action that turn, and the troll had already used the only action
available to him). Grenade explodes. Troll flubs resistance roll. There's
no dissipation of effect since he's at ground zero of the blast. Overflow
toasts him.

The rest of the party survived, and completed the mission. They've been
working together, more or less, ever since. They try desperately to keep
grenades out of CJ's hands....

Now, the adventure from Saturday night, CJ played with grenades again...but
that's another tale for another time.
