One of Gurth's recent posts sparked this, so blame him if it gives you the
willies.

If you're a player and your GM is on this list, stop reading now :)

An insect shaman has come up with a great idea to lure hosts. He's running
a cyrogenics scam (this is Gurth's idea). He's created a legal business
and is selling dying people the idea that they can be frozen until medical
technology can heal thier illness, or reverse old age.

The cryogenic process actually works and a client can be successfully
thawed.

However, after a client is frozen a clone is grown. After the clone
has reached maturity the client is thawed (under anesthesia) and
replaced by the clone to keep up appearances.. The client is then used
as a host for an insect spirit.

The runners are hired when a relative of a client want's his/her
spouse/sibling/parent thawed so that they can receive a new treatment
for their illness. The Cryogenics company's stance is that they won't
thaw their client because they feel that the chances of the treatment
being a success are too low.

A few weeks before this a client with a very rare brain disease was used as
a host. This disease was passed on to the insect which has subsequently
become insane. The disease has been transmitted to a other insects,
including the queen.

The queen (insane) has destroyed the insect shaman. The corps running
the company are unaware that she's taken over. She has been using
clones as hosts, creating droves of near mindless insect spirits
(literal drones). She is barely in control of these drones (because
she is losing her tenuous hold on sanity, and because there are so
many).

When the runners start to investigate/break in, they will be able to
quickly learn of the original plan (use clients as hosts). However, as
they walk deeper into the complex (underground of course) it will start
to become apparent that something is very, very, wrong.

They will find the shaman's body, insect spirits will act
innapropriately (attacking for no reason, ignoring them, trying to
communicate their terror/helplessness/rage at the queen, etc). They
will encounter a few of the mindless drones.

The will eventually find the queen and engage in the climactic battle
(or so they think). However, once the queen is dead the near mindless
drones will default to their most basic drive, to kill and destroy
anything they encounter. The runners will find themselves trying to
escape a monumental battle between the sane insect spirits, the insane
insect spirits, and the near mindless drones.

Have fun :)
